How this comparison was built. We did not test any of these machines. Everything below comes from the specifications Grizzly and Amazon publish and from how the designs work. Where a competitor detail is not in a listing we can verify, we describe the class of machine rather than guess at a number.

Power and circuits

The first filter is electrical. The G0441 is a 3 HP, 220V machine that draws 22 amps, so it needs a dedicated 240V circuit sized for that load, and in most garages and basements that means running new wire. The G0860 is a 110V machine drawing 15 amps, which is a dedicated 20 amp circuit but not a new panel. If your shop has no 240V circuit and no plan for one, the choice is already made.

Grizzly rates the G0441 for three machines at once, which is a useful way to think about it. If you run a table saw, a jointer and a planer in turn, either collector can work, but if you want two blast gates open at the same time, the G0441 keeps its airflow where the G0860 will not. The G0860 is best treated as a one-machine-at-a-time collector. Use our dust collection calculator to total the CFM your machines need.

Airflow, static pressure and filtration

The numbers say what the machines are for. The G0441 moves 1654 CFM at 2.0 inches of static pressure and can reach 14.2 inches at its maximum, which means it can still pull through longer duct runs, more bends and finer filters. The G0860 moves 868 CFM at 1.8 inches with a maximum of 9.7. Both are cyclones, so in both cases most of the chips drop into the drum before the filter.

On filtration the G0441 lists a BIA-certified cartridge with 113 square feet of media rated 0.2 to 2 micron. The G0860 lists a 1 micron canister with 28.1 square feet, and an optional T30489 HEPA filter at 0.3 micron. More filter area means the media loads more slowly and airflow holds up longer between cleanings, which is a real advantage for the larger machine. The smaller machine compensates with a paddle-brush cleaner that clears the canister without removing it.

Space, noise and delivery

The G0441 is 109 inches tall on a footprint of 32-7/8 inches square, and it ships at 400 lb. You need a ceiling above that height, a door or ramp wide enough to get it in, and equipment or helpers to move it. Grizzly describes the blower and barrel as rotating 360 degrees and the blower as wall-mountable, which gives you some freedom with duct placement. At 83 to 85 dB it is loud enough to want hearing protection.

The G0860 is 70 inches tall on a 27-1/2 by 44 inch footprint, with swivel casters, a wireless remote and a quick-release drum. At 278 lb it is still a freight delivery, but it rolls into place. At 78 dB it is the quieter machine. If the collector has to share a small shop with you, this matters more than the airflow numbers.

Amazon-sold alternatives

For the G0441 class the closest Amazon-sold alternative we could verify is the Shop Fox W1687, listed as 3 HP, 220V, 18 amps, with about 2800 CFM and 14.4 inches of static pressure into a 10.8 cubic foot bag. For the G0860 class, the Laguna DC:15 is a 1.5 HP bag collector listed at 1,100 CFM with 2 micron filtration. Both are bag collectors, not cyclones, so they sit in the same power tier rather than the same design.

Which to buy

Buy the G0860 if you have a 120V shop, one or two machines running at a time, and limited space. Buy the G0441 if you have 240V, three or more machines or a duct main, and the headroom to stand it up. If you are on the edge, the best predictor is whether you plan to build a duct system. A permanent system with several drops wants the G0441. A portable collector that moves to the machine you are using wants the G0860.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run the G0441 on 110V?

No. It is a 3 HP, 220V machine that draws 22 amps. You need a 240V circuit.

Is the G0860 enough for a table saw and planer?

For one machine at a time with short duct runs, yes. The G0860 is rated 868 CFM at 1.8 inches of static pressure. A planer needs a lot of airflow, so check it with the calculator.

Which has finer filtration?

The G0441 lists a cartridge rated 0.2 to 2 micron. The G0860 lists a 1 micron canister, with an optional 0.3 micron HEPA filter.

Do these ship free?
